The old town of Mortimer was once a thriving community of nearly 800 people, mostly employed by the Ritter Lumber Company in the early 1900′s. The entire town was wiped out by a huge flood that washed essentially the entire town downstream to the Brown Mountain Beach. Apollo has been eager to see the remains of the original cotton mill and remnants of the boilers and old structures still left standing.

Man that last picture looks pretty awesome. I wish Apollo could come down and go caving with me and my friends this weekend at Devil’s Den State Park! w00t w00t
