Apollo and Thunderlips took a trip to Linville Falls. Boy this place gathers a crowd on the weekends. Met some very rude ass people along the way that wouldn’t let anyone pet their ugly ass dog. Met some Germans that couldn’t figure out what these stupid Americans were doing, and met some grinning dude with a hot wife that seemed to have Apollo’s number.

Yo Mike, if you park at the Linville Visitors Center off the Blue Ridge Parkway–not the gravel parking lot one) there is a trail that is NOT the main trail over the bridge… the Plunge Basin Trail takes you to the other side of the river, and its like a half mile or so to the overlook. You’ll see another trail that runs off there called the Gorge Trail which takes you down to the actual bottom, I’m not sure how long it is but it seems like 3/4 to 1 mile or so. Its a hell of an uphill back up though. Prepare to hear lots of bitching family members.

Well ok I was pretty close… here’s what Wiki says about it:

The falls is owned by the National Park Service, which operates a visitor center and several miles of non-handicapped accessible trails with 4 overlooks for the falls. The 0.5-mile (0.80 km) Upper Falls trail leads to the top of the falls, where visitors can see the small twin upper falls and the water spiraling through a small canyon on its way to the main falls. The Erwin’s View trail leads to 2 overlooks, the Chimney View overlook (0.7 miles) and the Erwin’s View overlook (0.8 miles). The 0.5-mile (0.80 km) Plunge Basin Trail leads to the Plunge Basin Overlook, which provides a view of the falls from the other side of the river. Finally, the 0.7-mile (1.1 km) Gorge Trail, which branches off from the Plunge Basin trail, leads to an area near the foot of the falls. Swimming is prohibited at all areas of Linville Falls, as many deaths have occurred.
