When Apollo told Thunderlips about the Linn Cove Viaduct, he had no clue what Apollo was talking about. Apollo tried to explain that a viaduct was simply a bridge made of several small spans. He tried telling him that via is Latin for road, and duct is Latin for ducere, which means to lead something. After three hours of frustration, Apollo finally decided to take a little road trip up to the Blue Ridge Parkway so Thunderlips could see for himself.
The National Forest Service doesn't do the best job explaining what a viaduct is. The Linn Cove Visitor Center being closed sure didn't help out, either.
The cold mountain water from Grandfather Mountain was too enticing for some swimming.

Thunderlips now understands what a viaduct is, and understands just what an engineering feat it was constructing the hundred-trillion dollar Linn Cove Viaduct.
