As soon as Apollo learned of the old casino on Lake Tahoma near Marion, NC, he emptied his bank account and rolled all of his change. Upon his arrival to Lake Tahoma, he found a wicked-cool dam, a bunch of fisherman that gave him dirty looks, and a completely gated shut casino that hasn’t been in operation for years. Apollo never got to blow his wad, and that pretty much sucked.
The good news, is that Lake Tahoma is a remarkably beautiful mountain lake fed from the waters of Buck Creek. Even better news is Lake Tahoma bans speedboats, jet skis and fast-paced watersports, so people can relax and catch their fish without dealing with a bunch of obnoxiously loud young bastards.

My grandparents used to own property on Lake Tahoma. It is a great little lake stocked full of trout. I spent many summer days on that lake as a kid. I have been inside the Casino and it really isn’t all that. The round stone structure is just a large open room like a dance floor. It was a great place to visit until the rich from Charlotte began buying up the property and building huge mansions on them. They ran up the property values and forced my Grandmother to sell out. So that is why there are tons of Keep Out signs. No place for the regular folk on Lake Tahoma anymore.
Apollo….I’m a resident of Lake Tahoma and have keys to the entire property. If you would ever like a personal tour, gimme a shout. Think “Al Capone’s Vault” style tour….
Hey there! I recently went to North Carolina for a camping trip. I had never been to this area before, and coming around to find Lake Tahoma just after sunrise was a beautiful image I’ll never forget. Also, shortly after discovering the lake, the old casino came into view. I did not know it was a casino until I came home and did some online research. All I knew it that it is breathtakingly beautiful and I want to have my wedding there!!! I have been trying to find out all I can about it so that I can rent it and I came across your site. (Which is great, btw!) I saw the above guy posted that he has the keys and I would LOOOVE if you could put me in touch with him. Thanks!!!! Safe travels
I was married in the Casino. It is perfect for autumn weddings. My husband’s family used to own property there – he spent his summers there as a kid. It is a lovely place and I’m really glad Apollo found it. But it was never a casino for real…just used for fourth-of-july pot lucks and weddings and parties. later.
